The first three Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) are called ‘synoptic’ because combined they present a general and harmonized view of Christ’s life as distinguished from the Gospel of John, who writes for Christians as an eye witness and for a special purpose.

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the Originator and Sustainer, the Message and the Messenger, the Savior, the Almighty King, the Judge. Above all, He is our hope and our salvation.

Today we look back through the years and ask, “What kind of trail has He left across the centuries? When we try to sum up His influence, all the armies that ever marched, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned are absolutely picayune in their influence of mankind compared with that of this one solitary life.” (w/audio)

In the development of this material, an attempt has been made toward practical simplicity. No effort was made to bury the reader in technical theological terms and philosophies. The lessons are interspersed with thoughts, analogies, and illustrations in the hope of giving luster to content

SUPREME PRIVILEGE – The Lord’s Supper, remembering Jesus, is the most valuable and most important activity in Christianity; the supreme privilege in this life. Yet, it is one that has been worn thin in many congregations from the early times until now.
THE GREATEST LOVE – In this observance the greatest ‘Love’ is manifested; the greatest ‘Person’ is remembered; the greatest ‘Event’ is perceived; the greatest ‘Benefit’ is pondered; the greatest ‘Covenant’ is acknowledged; the greatest ‘Triumph’ is envisioned; the greatest ‘Proclamation’ is expressed; the greatest ‘Fellowship’ is enjoyed; the greatest ‘Examination’ is taken; and the greatest ‘Worship’ occurs.
WHO IS THIS JESUS? – Who is the most understanding personality of all time? Who is the greatest Leader? Who is the greatest Teacher? Who has done the most good for mankind and lived the most holy life of anyone who has ever lived? Jesus Christ is the unique personality of all time. He changed the course of history. Even the date on our morning newspaper gives witness to the fact that Jesus of Nazareth lived on Earth.

From NY Julie wrote, “I’m telling others about how much your website means to me. Thank you for making a difference and sharing Jesus. Do you have any suggestions about how to spread the word around?” To answer Julie’s appreciated and kind request, we have prepared .jpg pics which can be downloaded, filed and used as e-mail attachments “to spread the word around.”

A consideration of teaching, the prime work of the church of our Lord.

These brief thoughts will hopefully lead toward a deeper, more in-depth study of the Holy Spirit.

It is the Word made manifest in our lives that grips our students. If the men and women, boys and girls in our classes see only the teacher and nothing of Him Who sends us, then we might as well never have tried to teach at all.

In this treatise, an attempt has been made to present a courtroom drama with the various characters springing to life as in a legal procedure. The usual theological phraseology has been displaced by the use of everyday language that hopefully will bring a new endearment to the study of Romans.

God would not have written the Book of Revelation if it could not be understood. With God’s gracious help and if we are prepared to spend a little time grasping it, be assured that gaining a working knowledge of its general thrust and a sense of its riches is possible.

Essays on specific themes and passages in the Johannine corpus affirming that the more familiar one is with the Johannine Literature, the more conversant one may be with many other significant dimensions of Christianity.

Our goal is to assist preachers, Bible School teachers, Small Group Bible Study teachers and students seeking Bible thoughts, ideas, and suggestions, hopefully providing useful Biblical themes for private study and/or public use. We pray this effort will prove helpful to the mind and a joy to the heart when studying the Holy Word of God – as well as saving valuable preparation time.

Basically, studying the Bible is like working a combination lock. When we follow the steps, the Word opens up; we feel free; and we are no longer dependent on others to gain insights into Holy Scripture – Bible study becomes more meaningful and personal. It becomes deeply satisfying to know how to discover the deep truths found only in the Holy Word of God.

Much in life and in the church of our Lord depends on stalwart Christian homes, consecrated Christian families, and the exaltation of Christian principals concerning marriage, parenthood and the home. The Christian faith is the greatest guarantee of attaining the highest possible happiness in marriage.

If we neglect to regularly feed our soul on God’s Holy Word, our focus on Jesus Christ can more easily grow weaker. Let us be “one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer” (James 1:25). May these devotional thoughts inspire your personal witness In His Name.

First in a series of three, this section consists of 109 easy-to-read stories from the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible). The second in the series is THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD. Though a detailed representation of his inner life is not revealed, still, from the surface of the inspired narrative one observes Elijah’s faith in Jehovah as God of Nature and as covenant God of the patriarchs and their descendants.

In this brief study, our focus is on the child king, Josiah; his earliest history reveled in 2 Kings 22 and his later history revealed in 2 Chronicles 34, 35. In an atmosphere that seems to be growing darker and darker, there is a need for more earnestness on the part of Christians to fill the minds of children with the precious soul-saving knowledge of the Word of God.

This is a brief consideration of the central relationship in the body of Christ. God created “one body” – hence the term, “one another.” How Jews and Gentiles, slaves and masters, males and females would manage to cling together was the great mystery. Yet, in Christ all were made “one.” The binding tie was found in the marvelous words, “one another.”

His virtues and faults had their common root in his enthusiastic disposition, and the latter were at length overruled by Divine grace into the most beautiful humility and meekness.

When the soul realizes the reality of its spiritual condition, i.e., the depth of its ruin – its guilt, its misery, its utter and hopeless bankruptcy – there can be no rest until the Holy Spirit reveals to the heart a full and all-sufficient Christ. The only possible answer to our total ruin is Jesus Christ, God’s perfect remedy.

“He went up into a mountain” overlooking the Galilean Sea by Capernaum. What a pulpit this mountain has become, “when He was set . . . He opened His mouth, and taught” – how wonderful it would be to actually see this mountain pulpit.

In the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) the Decalogue is referred to as “the ten words,” or simply as “the words” spoken by Jehovah, or as “the words of the covenant.” In the New Testament they are called “commandments.”

This section includes personal thoughts on teaching children, plus songs and drawings by Ms Nell’s last Kindergarten class. If Jesus is truly planted in the heart and soul of a child it will bud, then bloom into everlasting life. To know Jesus is to love Him and we need Him as the King of our lives from the cradle to the grave.

This section contains various topical studies.

Offering a variety of sermon outlines in the hope of providing Biblical thoughts and ideas for teachers in the preparation of lessons; preachers in the preparation of sermons; and leaders of small group Bible studies in the preparation of topics for discussion.

How better to equip men than with the Gospel of John – the incarnation, God in Christ; Christ the Logos of God; the depths; the grace.

An old and wise preacher once declared, “There are two sides to the Gospel: the believing side and the behaving side.” One could think of this Epistle as an essay on that theme; or as Psalm
101:2 proclaims, “I will behave myself.”

Over the years, we have been asked a number of Biblical questions which are similar. So in the hope of saving our friends and students valuable time, we offer these basic answers.
